@Valkyrie: Wow, sounds like Coach Williams doesn't mess around when it comes to employee loyalty. :D As for AZ weather, it indeed is beautiful - especially this time of year.

Tomas

One of the great jobs I had here between 2001 and 2005 was I ran the sound at Allen Field House and I sat between the announcer and two others right at the court during the men's basketball games. My first year as sound engineer I can remember we were playing the University of Arizona. Now there is only one team that tops my Hawks and that is Arizona (since that is my home state). So Arizona makes a great three point shot and I yelled out 'YESSS'. Wrong thing to do in Hawk land. Coach Roy Williams (since replaced by Bill Self) turned around and shook his finger at me, the announcer looked at me like I had passed gas. It wasn't good. So after the game, I was taking down all of my audio equipment and someone tapped me on the shoulder. It was coach Williams. He asked 'Why did you cheer Arizona when they made a basket? I explained that I was from Arizona and they were my home states team. His reply was 'I'm your employer do I my my self clear?' Never cheered for the opposing team in the field house again :-)

Can't say that I do know Michael Wesch. I work as Lab Director for the Aerospace Engineering department which is on a whole diffrent part of campus.

BTW, I have lived here since 1979 and I still hate winter. It was 2 degrees with a wind chill -14 this morning. GOD I MISS ARIZONA !!!

@Valkryie - Yeah, small towns rock! :D

BTW, I'm seriously jealous of your University, you get to enjoy some great hoops! At ASU, I only remember one year when we got to cheer our hearts out and that was when we went to the NCAA tourney in the mid 90's. Although I must say that Coach Sendek is slowly but surely making progress - who knows, maybe our teams will meet someday in the future? ;)

BTW, would you happen to know Michael Wesch? He's a professor of Cultural Anthropology and made this great video about Web 2.0.

Tomas,

And who said that small towns like San Manuel doesn't produce great people!!! I too am an engineer (electroincs) working for the University of Kansas School of Engineering. Ahhh yes, the eight track player. I think I still have a Pink Floyd and Steppenwolf eight track tape laying around. That is if my daughter didn't cabbage on to it :-)

Hey, I once owned a Shadow! It was the first compact car my father bought, and the last. The first car I ever drove was a 1978 Ford LTD and it was the size of a plane. I remember pulling into a space in the school parking lot while my friends would clear me in for a landing, and once taking out the drive through window at the Tastee Freeze in my home town without even putting a dent on the fender! And yes, it too had an eight track tape player :)

Hey, a Plymouth Horizon! I remember that car, it later was replaced by the Dodge Shadow I believe (a friend had one). What a difference 4 years can make in the auto industry, the Cordoba had to be 20 feet long (<em>I'm exaggerating</em>) whereas the Horizon was one of the first US made subcompact cars.

A Cordoba? Very nice car! My first car was a 1980 Plymouth Horizon. Only 3 of the doors opened (not the passenger side front) and it had no radio. What a memory!
